We mostly just swoon over Tab Hunter and use words like "dreamy" while eating popcorn that looks suspiciously like dirt.
Dave: i have to admit that, having not seen any of his movies but Polyester, I wasn’t prepared for Tab Hunter’s DEFCON 5 level of dreaminess. He’s even attractive as an 80-something year old, but in his 20s and 30s he really boils my Ovaltine. And the story of his career, through serious and not-so-serious pictures, a recording contract, TV work, and an indie comeback is pretty riveting. The documentary certainly dwells some on his long-hidden homosexuality, but not so much it bogs the rest of the story down, and the fact that there’s a happy ending after all of it makes the journey worth it. (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
This popcorn looked fairly disgusting. Mottled dirt brown is not a color that one often wants in a snack food. But, despite somehow never being quite salty enough, the sweetness and smokiness of the molé sauce made the popcorn delightful. This definitely goes into the make-again pile! (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Joe: Tab Hunter is a raging hottie. Seriously. And his era of Hollywood is full of smoldering hot gays: Rock Hudson, Montgomery Clift, Anthony Perkins. A veritable sausage fest. The documentary was interesting for the first 45 minutes, sagged a bit, then recouped in its final act. Having the story told through multiple narratives was effective, but the end product was more “Um. Ok. So what?” This reaction was only solidified when it turned out his life partner of thirty years produced the whole shebang. Still. Tab Hunter. What a dreamboat. (⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Unlike our other popcorn adventures, the success of this recipe really hinges on the quality of the mole sauce you find. Dave happened to pick up a bottle from Aldi that was on the “Look what we found in the back of a truck!” rack. And wouldn’t you know... it’s tasty mole sauce. Not chocolatey. More spicy. And delicious. The popcorn was delicious. I ate some of mine and some of Dave’s. I’m a happy man tonight. (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
