Popcorn Pepperoni Pizza Dippers

Our nephew Oliver is spending the weekend with us in celebration of his forthcoming 12th birthday. To that end, this is a bit of an unconventional Nerdery Movie Night that we decided not to count as #255.

Ollie chose the movie: the 1980s classic The Goonies. Unlike most 80s films that have aged like milk, The Goonies largely stands the test of time. It's funny and stupid and very 1980s. I remember seeing it (at least twice) in the theaters the summer it was released. It was a blast watching it with our nephew. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, always and forever.

I tried one of the "cooking with popcorn" recipes on the (usually unimpeachable) Popcorn Board website. This recipe, Popcorn Pepperoni Pizza Dippers, seemed sus from the jump, and as you can likely tell from this entry's accompanying photo, lived up to that initial assessment. Both Dave and Oliver nearly spit out their first (and only) bite. Both of them are "texture" people, and indeed this "treat" has a strange texture. So they had something else for dinner, and I ate the entire batch of dippers myself. Were they good? Not really. Do I regret eating them? Also not really. ⭐️⭐️1/2

Try for yourself, if you dare. Note: the "tomato and basil crème" listed as an ingredient isn't really a thing, so I combined room temperature cream cheese, tomato paste, and basil, which was actually really good by itself!
