The Nerdery Movie Night #182: Everything You Always Wanted... and Toffee Almond Chocolate Popcorn

Woody Allen should have been cancelled in 1972.

Toffee Almond Chocolate Popcorn

Dave: I tried to give this movie some grace since it is, after all, 50 years old. That lasted all of 5 minutes, not even through the first short sketch, of which there are seven in total. The film is one long, unfunny joke about misogyny and stigma masquerading as a lighthearted, “progressive” sex comedy. To boot, the only jokes that are at all funny are the throw-away jokes that are about anything other than sex. Even the wacky, over-the-top haunted house sketch, complete with an enormous boob, that *could* have been campy and watchable comes off as creepy and/or revolting. The fact that anyone calls this a “classic” or thinks it’s worthy of serious consideration is deeply troubling. (⭐️)

At least the popcorn was good? Was it mostly sugar and chocolate? Yes. Could you detect almonds at all? No. But would I eat more of it? You bet! Yes, perhaps it was a little overly sweet, but with a few adjustments to the proportions it would make a great evening snack or holiday gift! (️️️️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

Joe: Did this movie age poorly, is it tainted by the sleazeball Woody Allen became, or was it always painful to watch? Is it possibly all three? I want this review to be fewer words than the film's ungainly title, so here it is: I hated everything about this offensive, unfunny movie. Literally everything. (⭐️)

My impression of this popcorn will forever be yoked to the godawful Woody Allen film. Honestly, the popcorn was tasty, albeit abundantly chocolatey - to the point that the chocolate drowned out even the faintest whiff of popcorn. And toffee. And almonds. So if you like eating bricks of chocolate, this one's for you. Me? I prefer a little more nuance. I got that in neither the movie nor the popcorn tonight. (⭐️⭐️⭐️)

I enjoyed reading the review and the popcorn sounded good until I read Joe's critique.
